How To Highlight Your Face With Powder Products- A Complete Guide

Hello girls!!
Welcome again!
So today's post is all about how you can highlight your face but i am keeping it simple for beginners so that they can easily understand where to highlight and what products they basically can use to highlight!

Our face isn't one dimensional basically
and it has structure and what highlighting does is its bring forward the features of your face and we have one more technique which is called contouring which actually shapes your face structure!  it wasn't possible for me to include both the topics in the same post so i am covering only highlighting part in this post!
So highlighting can be done with creams, liquid and powders products!!  i am here demonstrating with powders only because it is the easiest and fastest way!
Lets begin with what you can use to highlight your face!!

Basically we highlight the areas of our face where the light hits!!  and lights actually hits on the high points of our face!  and if we put some kind of shimmery products or lighter tone products(lighter than our skintone) it will bring them forward and make them stand out!

In the above picture i have given you example of two products which you can use to highlight!
First is the highlighting palettes available in market(Revlon Highlighting palette in shade peach glow has been used) !  or as i said you can go for a lighter toned face powder (Maybelline Clear Glow Face Powder)!!
HERE IS A LITTLE TIP

While choosing your highlighter keep in mind your skin colour!  don't go too light! Go for something which is maximum 3to4 shade lighter than your actual skin colour
Otherwise it wont look that natural!

So if you don't have anything and still you wanna try highlighting then i have a crazy idea for you!!
so just be creative and use anything!  because i am a kind of person who is crazy seriously if i don't have the exact product i can go crazy and experiment unexpected things :p
For instance when first i started contouring i used an eyeshadow for both contouring and highlighting and a lipstick too! :p
But keep in mind it should  not be  full of harsh shimmer!  As i said before go for something lighter than your skin tone!  and opt for satin finish eyeshadow and avoid glittery eyeshadow if you are going to practice with that!

I am just sharing my way of dealing with things because there was a time when i wasn't capable of buying those things but my passion encouraged me to go crazy and learn at any cost so i started experimenting and believe me guys if you are passionate about something nobody and nothing in this world can stop you! So be creative!  do experiment!  and create magic!

And if you aren't a shimmer loving person and just want a subtle glow you can go with matte products like compacts are matte or even matte eyeshadows will work!
No offence but i have seen some people  in india! for them makeup is just shimmer! They put shimmer all over the face no matter what!
That in turn makes you look oily rather than giving you the glow! So if you just concentrate on the right areas of your face and apply shimmer there you will actually see the difference!
So lets start the demo!
I am done with my base  using my foundation and now staright moving on to highlighting!

In the above picture you can see i have marked some places of my face with arrows and basically these are the areas of our face where the light hits!
Our cheekbones, bridge of our nose or some people apply it on the tip of the nose only!,  your cupids bow, your chin area and just above arch of your brow. (you can do inbetween your eyebrows as well but then make sure you keep the area just above your arch matte!)
So now in action!
How to find where exactly your cheekbones starts or you can call it finding the high point of the cheekbones!!!
See the picture below....

Take a brush or anything that works and just place it on top of your ear and join the other end with your nose the line you get is the right spot!
So we will be applying our highlighting shade on that part but don't put the highlighting shade all over that line we just visually created!

Look straight and visually create a line from the middle of your eyeball (as shown in the picture) i am looking on the side because i was clicking picture but you should look straight!!  so where the two lines are meeting is the point you should go the max with your highlighting colour!
Because if you go too far in like around your nose area you will rather end up looking oily!
So you can use any precise brush like ( fluffier blending brush or a small size blush brush or even your fingers if u dont have a brush) and take the colour onto the brush or on your ring finger and just apply to the cheekbone line!
And just lightly smudge it so it doesn't look like a streak and looks blended!

Next area is your brow bone!!
Just stick to the outer area and same dont go too in!!

Now our under eye area should be brighter so that we dont look tired or something but as i said if we put shimmer near our nose area we will look oily instead of bright so what i am gonna be doing is applying a lighter toned matte powder
I dont have any lighter tone compact powder with me so i am just using a matte eyeshadow! It's from revlon and the shade name is BONE  and using a blush brush and just applying powder only to my under eye area without disturbing the highlight we previously placed!

One more place where you can put your highlighter is just on the inner corner of your eyes!! It just make the eyes pop!! And you even can highlight just above arch of your brow and just blend it upward!!

I am using a pencil brush to place the highlight on the inner corner but if u dont have one u can use a cotton bud (Q tip)!!
Dont forget to blend after every step.
because we dont want to look like we have patches on our face and want it to look like a part of out face!!
And last but not least apply highlighter to your chin, tip of your nose and cupid bow!!

Oops! Excuse me for the bare lips!  and with this our highlighting tutorial ends

Here is the final picture!
i have added a lil bit of bronzer to my cheeks and a lipstick because my camera wasn't able to capture the true image and i was looking washed out!
